About Us
Challenger 17
Challenger 17 is an outfit created in memory of the seven astronauts who died in the explosion of the space shuttle Challenger. We are a living memorial for those astronauts, making us unique from every other outfit in the Corps. We do our best to honor those seven astronauts in everything that we do.
Squadron 17 prides itself in excelling in multiple catagories around the Corps and on campus. We consistantly compete at the top of the Corps intramural leagues, and have won the athtletics awards many times. Our academics are also at the top of the charts. We have four cadets that are a part of the O.R. Simpson honor society, and many others who continually put out good grades. Many of our seniors hold leadership positions around the Corps as well. Head Yell leader, Corps Chaplain, 1st Wing Commander, and 1st Wing Executive Officer are just 4 out of 9 total leadership positions that are held by Challengers. 17 is also known well around campus for our involvement. The current head yell leader, Casey Schaeffer, and multiple yell leaders in the past such as Keaton Askew and Eric Reed have been a part of our outfit. We also have members involved in many other organizations such as Carpool, Old Ags, and Maroon Coats.
